FCPS Cares

FCPS Cares is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees.

Business and Community Partnerships

The Business and Community Partnerships office’s primary functions are to recruit and supports Ignite Partnerships, serve as a liaison to local Chambers of Commerce and other community organizations, help lead the annual Collect for Kids school supply drive, manage the FCPS Donations Portal for donated goods, and promote the Savings for Staff merchant discount program.

In the last decade, the Business & Community Partnerships team has helped secure over ten million dollars in donations of money and valued goods through partnerships and direct donations, not including the value of volunteer hours contributed by partners and mentors.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities at Armstrong Elementary

  • Grace Art (2-3 hours/month)

    • Teach an art lesson in your child's class! The GRACE Art program was established in 1976 by GreaterRestonArtsCenter, to supplement and support local children's art experience in school. The program is based on in-class presentations of art historical subjects, followed by coordinating art projects. Whether you think your art talent ends at doodling or you are a master artist, or have an interest in history and biographies, or maybe it's as simple as you want to volunteer to be a positive influence in your child's classroom, your role, as a docent(volunteer), is vital to bringing art and art history into the classroom environment. Please email if you have questions or would like to sign up.

  • LINK Food Rescue (1-hour pick-up/drop-off)

    • Students will be supporting their community by contributing unopened lunch items to the LINK food bank. Volunteers are needed to pick up the food items from Armstrong on Tuesdays & Fridays. Visit the PTA Website-Volunteer Opportunities for more information.

  • Gardening Volunteers

    • Volunteer in the fall and/or the spring to help weed, rake, mulch, and plant flowers in the Armstrong gardens. Volunteers are also welcome year-round. Students, AES parents, alumni, scout troops, students looking to fulfill service hours, and anyone from the community are welcome to volunteer! Visit the PTA Website-Volunteer Opportunities for more information.

  • School Libary

    • Flexible hours and dates! Our school library needs volunteers during the school year to help children choose books, check books in and out, shelve books and work on special projects with the Librarian, Mrs. Seidel. Visit the PTA Website-Volunteer Opportunities for more information.
