On Wednesday, February 26th, Armstrong Elementary School celebrated our 2025 African American Read-In at the library. Students welcomed guest readers to share books written by African American authors or illustrated by African American illustrators. Guests read picture books and poetry created by African American authors and/or illustrators. Thank you to our parents, staff, and community members who helped us celebrate!

The gym at Armstrong Elementary buzzed with excitement as students, parents, and staff gathered to witness an action-packed basketball showdown between Armstrong and Aldrin Elementary. The event, held on Friday March 14th, featured back-to-back games with both the girls’ and boys’ 6th-grade teams giving it their all on the court.

Congratulations to first grader Vera Reynolds!! Vera won a Holiday Card Contest at RSM US Foundation and chose Armstrong to receive the $1.000.00 donation prize to enhance the 1st & 2nd grade classroom libraries. Thank you Vera!

FCPS Cares is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. All FCPS Cares submissions were reviewed and winners were selected for the month of May from each region and the central office to receive extra recognition for their work. Armstrong's very own Ms. Stephanie Howell was chosen as a winner from Region 1! Ms. Howell just finished her 13th year teaching at AES!

Students learned about persuasive writing and media messages while creating a pitch for a new invention and designing its advertisement! The project culminated in a real "shark tank" experience where students presented to a panel of "sharks" who were local business employees ready to give feedback on their inventions.

23 Armstrong students participated for the first time at the Division A Regional VASO Tournament earning 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in some events!
